本系统旨在开发一款集单机功能与网络功能于一体的小游戏——坦克大战，该游戏能让用户自主选择游戏模式。其中，单机模式为用户与电脑的对战，网络联机模式则为玩家通过网络连接其他玩家联合对抗电脑，共同完成整局游戏。本设计运用Java语言编写，主要使用Java中的Swing、GUI、Socket、线程、面向对象设计等技术实现，模拟实现了坦克的移动与射击，子弹的发射与爆炸等功能模块。其中，不同的游戏模式使用不同的游戏规则，使得整个游戏的趣味性增强，用户体验性增强，整个系统具有良好的娱乐性与互动性。
